What is a CEREC?

This is a single visit, computer aided and designed, tooth coloured restoration.

The onsite milling machine will manufacture your porcelain restoration during your visit, following an image captured via a camera. This technology means that you will leave the Dentist with a new porcelain restoration in one appointment.

Porcelain has the advantages of aesthetics, longevity and possesses similar wear characteristics to natural tooth.

Your Teeth Our Care

The human body has an amazing ability to repair injured structures however teeth are one of the areas that need outside help. Crowns are an ideal restoration for teeth that have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling.

Common situations to consider a crown can be:

- You may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect it.
- You may have large fillings and would like to improve strength and appearance.
- You may have a stress fracture which has broken the tooth or may soon break
- It may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.

What is a Crown?

A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth.

What is a Bridge?

A bridge provides a permanent fixed replacement for missing teeth and can restore a confident smile. A bridge is made by placing a crown on two permanent teeth which hold an artificial tooth in place in the gap. A specialist dental laboratory carefully constructs the bridge after an impression is taken of your mouth. The bridge is made of porcelain and gold alloy for optimum strength. Like with crowns the artificial teeth are coloured and shaped to feel and look like real teeth. Bridges can be the preferred treatment plan where there are already heavy restorations on the surrounding teeth or when a Denture is an uncomfortable option.
